A fun family experience for everybody. Filled with discovery, storytelling and a front row experience, our interactive ensemble concerts entertain, engage and educate our youngest listeners.
The full orchestra performs these concerts at Tucson Music Hall. An engaging theme is explored each year for over 10,000 3rd–8th graders each year.
TSOL members usher for these events.
Over 2,000 students in grades K-2 come to Tucson Symphony Center each year for performances that explore how “music tells a story” and that feature a musical reenactment of a tale by acclaimed Tucson children’s book author Susan Lowell. TSOL members usher for these events.
More than 50 of the region’s most talented young instrumentalists (ages 8–22) compete for cash prizes and performance opportunities. The TSOL hosts this event at Tucson Symphony Center.
This nationally recognized program teaches students age 9 through high-school to compose music for orchestra, culminating in three reading sessions and recordings by the TSO.
Yo-Yo Ma was so impressed by this program that he said, In all my years of working with symphony orchestras, I have never encountered such an extraordinary program.
The TSOL provided scholarships to students and also sponsors this event.
Guest Artist Hospitality Renowned artists from around the world perform with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. We have the pleasure of helping provide hospitality for artists such as Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Bernadette Peters, Pink Martini and many more.
Auditions When the Symphony holds auditions, we help make sure things run smoothly by helping check in auditioning professional musicians.
Administration Our TSO project coordinator is in touch with the TSO so that when they need a helping hand, we are there for them. Because of our help, projects are accomplished on schedule.
TSOL Member Projects The TSO Store is open during Classic Series, SuperPops! and Specials concerts. Our sales generate considerable funds to the TSO, and we enjoy ourselves while we do it. Plus, we get to choose the items we sell. • The Nutcracker Holiday Luncheon and silent auction in December is a time of camaraderie and a great financial success as well. TSO musicians often join us to make the day extra-special. • We have monthly membership meetings to catch up on TSO business. After the meeting we have informal lunch outings just for fun.
